Approximately 40% of all UK-crafted jewellery is produced here in Birmingham, as well as Hatton Garden in Central London. The main reason behind this is the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) which has been tasked with rejuvenating and promoting this iconic area of Birmingham into an appealing urban village.
There are six primary objectives within the Jewellery Quarter BID project. It exists to create attractive and clean environments that can help raise business profiles in the district. It requires a safe and welcoming place for businesses and staff to work. The project promotes the Quarter as a sustainable and eco-conscious area, creating a progressive, forward-thinking hub of like-minded businesses and entrepreneurs.
It also aims to better market and promote the qualities and values of the Jewellery Quarter, with a full calendar of networking and social events to grow footfall for businesses based here. All of which should help to maintain the hub’s legacy for generations to come.
In terms of connections within Birmingham city centre, the Jewellery Quarter is a stone’s throw from Birmingham’s mainline rail stations, New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill. It even has its own station to the north of the hub. It’s also located close to the outer A4540 ring road of the city centre.
