Wellingborough is a thriving town in the heart of Northamptonshire, near towns such as Rushden and Irthlingborough. Formerly a town dedicated to London over-spill residents, Wellingborough has more recently evolved into a town with a thriving economy. According to the Connected Wellingborough organisation, over 2,500 registered businesses are now located within the town’s boundaries.
A town set for significant housing development
Some 12,800 new homes have been pencilled in for the Wellingborough area, with up to 12,400 new jobs also set to be created to accompany this urban growth. Urban regeneration set to provide transport boost too
Since the plans for the new housing developments have been approved by Wellingborough Borough Council, further plans for urban regeneration in the town are afoot. The biggest benefit for businesses will be the creation of a new ‘interchange’ at Wellingborough’s railway station, connecting local trains and buses to the town, with new platforms, buildings and footbridges planned.
Access the capital by rail in under an hour
Speaking of the town’s railway station, Wellingborough is handily placed to attract professionals due to its commutable distance from north London. Trains from Wellingborough to London St Pancras depart every half-an-hour and take less than an hour. Wellingborough is also directly connected to major commercial cities such as Nottingham, Leicester, Sheffield and Leeds by the same rail line. Meanwhile the A14 and M1 both skirt the town, providing links to the east and west of the country.
